Tasked with creating the image for the advertising campaign of "SHOWER DIVA," the latest captivating cabaret spectacle by the talented Mexican actress and singer, Lou Best, I embarked on a collaborative journey to bring the project to life.
Our initial discussion provided a glimpse into the play's essence through a brief synopsis. Despite the absence of a final script or defined visual direction, I drew inspiration from our conversation to shape a collection of visual references that resonated with the narrative's core.
Recognizing the power of aesthetics in the field of art promotion, I sought to team up with iEve González, a photographer known for his prowess in art advertising and fashion photography. As fate would have it, Lou Best was situated in Mexico City, making it an opportune moment to connect with iEve. I proposed an impactful photoshoot to Lou. The goal was clear: infuse the advertising campaign with an undeniable appeal, especially considering its upcoming premiere at Tijuana's Cultural Center (CECUT), a renowned artistic institution in the region.
While navigating the logistical complexities of remote collaboration—I in Tijuana, and Lou and the team in Mexico City—I aimed to provide a solid starting point for Lou, iEve, and the hair and makeup team: during the conceptualization phase, I partnered with EDDIE CORPS, a respected Mexican fashion designer based in Paris and my sibling. Eddie's insight helped provide structure to the creative process and shaped the final vision. Addressing the challenge of an undefined character costume, a unique concept emerged—to drape Lou's character in a theater curtain that doubled as a shower curtain, obviating the need for a traditional costume.
In collaboration with the hair and makeup experts, we honed in on Lou's appearance for the photoshoot. Opting for wet, wavy hair akin to classic Hollywood glam, we achieved a style that aligned with an after-shower look. Complementing this, the makeup featured a bold yet understated touch with a red lip and subtle smokey eye.
Through imagery that bridges imagination and reality, we seeked to evoke curiosity and anticipation, offering audiences a captivating glimpse into Lou Best's enchanting cabaret world of “SHOWER DIVA”.
